Linda, I am in the same boat you are in...drought and hot temperatures.
The local bank registered 92o Tuesday afternoon around 1 p.m. when we drove
by. I was later than ever in transplanting because of the heat and drought,
but I have had the sprinklers going constantly, and my things are showing a
lot of growth. I had fears for the seedlings which were not removed from
the seedling bed until Oct. 7, but their growth has been amazing since they
got out of their cramped space and lined out
Of course, you have had a freeze, which probably put a damper on the
growth of your newly-transplanted things. We had been as low as 40o but
have had no frosts. With continued waterings and mild temperatures, I hope
things will be ready for winter when it finally does show up around here.
Irises continue to grow during the winter in mild climates, and I DO
predict a great bloom season next year for BOTH of us!
