Re: TB: Rebloom report
From: koekkoek@dordt.edu (Arnold Koekkoek)
Two weeks ago, when the forecast called for temps in the mid-to-
upper 20s for a few nights (they never got below freezing!) we cut the
stalk of CLARENCE that was growing on a July-planted rhizome. What an
outstanding iris! Dr. Zurbrigg is to be congratulated! It's one I'd
plant even if it didn't rebloom, which is more than I can for a lot of
them. At the same time there were a couple stalks of the most reliable
rebloomer (here, at least) QUEEN DOROTHY coming up, 3rd spurt this fall,
but they weren't advanced enough to cut with C. No frost has come yet,
however, and this morning's check showed color on both those stalks,
too. And another bonus, LOW HO SILVER has suddenly shot up 2 stalks
within less than a week, though with no color showing yet. Looks as if
I'll have to cover if we get a couple degrees of frost forecast by the
weekend. It sounds as if that might happen, and we're certainly living
on borrowed time. It seems so strange to hear reports of freezing from
people as far south as Tennessee, when we haven't had it here yet.
