TB: CULT: a question for the British?

Just exactly how deep do you suppose this person spits?  I am used to
making estimates of metric conversions, but this is a new unit of
measure for me - can anybody tell me how many inches are in a spit? 

I assumed this was humor at first, but then I wondered if maybe there is
an obscure ME unit of measure, perhaps pictish in origin...
