Cheryl,
I also used Preen last year on my new beds, but after I had planted the
iris. and did not have any problems. One bed was Preened before it
was completly planted and I just scraped the top layer aside (with the
Preen in it) and planted the iris ,then spread the soil ,I had put aside,
back around the iris. I was carefull not to get any of the soil ,with the
Preen)on the rhizome .
Some people think that using Preen might slow down root production.
But I didn't seem to have any such problems. Maybe someone else might
have another viewpoint.
The "Post" you are looking for is spelled Poast and is just for Burmuda
Grass. Probably other grasses too. It will not get any other weeds .
It is safe to use in the iris beds. I know people who have used it and they
have not had any problems.
