Thank you all--I now have all the tags finished and twill put them out later
today--
One thought--at home, on your Iris name tags, do you list hybridizer and
year--or year alone? Because these tags were for a club garden which gets
many many visitors, it was decided to put the year on the tag--that way the
person viewing the tag would know how old the Iris is--and might consider
the age when deciding to buy it at our sale--
One thing nice I have found--that several of the ones in our 'big bed' which
were supposed to be the newest available, were actually from the '60's and
'70's--and since there was no year on the tag--they were just dug and
replaced time after time--next year many will move to the 'oldies but
goodies' area--where I am trying to collect several of the 'best' or
'break-through' iris--if anyone has a special one--which shows a
'breaks-through' in color or style, I would appreciate them sending the name
to me, so that I can go looking for it--my space is limited--so can only
have about 30 of the 'best of the best'--since there is already a complete
Dykes row--I am trying for some other notable iris.
The club garden is a Miniature Dwarf, Median, and HIPS Display garden-- and
soon, I hope, to also be a TB display garden--and records are kept as to how
the Iris survive here--at times we have accepted newer varieties from
Hybridizers and kept the records as to cold hardiness--and sent reports to
the Hybridizes--
Again, thanks for the info--and even though I have all Check-lists, R&I's
and varietal lists--I am really looking forward to the electronic data
base--type a name, push a button, and there is the info!! The sooner the
better--Carryl in western Montana zone 3/4--where a beautiful Autumn
continues--
