Excellent thought - I did just that with some of my new varieties in
1998 -(sent some to MS and TN). I had not moved in to the new house so
couldn't plant next to the foundation which I did this year.
Your sister has quite few options...again, I wouldn't/couldn't plant
new rhizomes after Aug. in my damp, frigid climate. I have done it and
watched them vanish or rot. Folks in Auburn, ME (Zone 4) might be able
to get away with it but not in true Zone 3...I know Ted White's family
has an altogether different bloom season than we do. His parents and I
have compared notes. I am always 2 - 3 wks. later here and light years
away in snow cover/low temps./first frost, etc.
