I am waaaaaay overdue on this, and anyone who wants to chastise me for being
late feel free, you are amply justified.
To all, please accept my apologies.
Now that you are all wondering what the heck I am talking about, the subject
is the Geek Dinner at the last National convention. Specifically a report and
a thank you to all who participated.
First the report.
We had approximately 55 people attend the dinner. We had all sorts of wine
brought by attendees, chips and dips (also brought by attendees), Lasagne,
garlic bread, salad, and deserts (brought by attendees). It was a major feast.
Following dinner we had a auction of items donated to the cause, and a raffle
of doorprise irises. Thanks to Peter Weixlmann for being auctioneer.
Of course there were also the sales of the Electronic World of Irises T-Shirts.
All told from the sale of t-shirts and the auction we raised over $350 for the
electronic checklist project to give to the AIS.
I would say that the award of the evening should go to Rosalie Figge for
bidding $51.00 for a $50.00 gift certificate from Suttons. Of course you know
George was going to do right by her...
I want to say thank you to all who attended and supported the auction and
especially to those individuals and companies that brought food, or donated
items and gift certificates to the auction or doorprize raffle.
I hope that I have included everybody onthe list below, and forgotten no one,
but it did get very hectic at the end. If I inadvertently left you off or if
you know of someone who is not on the list, please let me know so I can
rectify the oversight.
When it comes time to order irises next year, please keep in mind those
commercial growers that are part of the list below that so generously donated
items to the dinner.
My thanks and appreciation for donations go to:
