I have ten wonderful water colors (one five feet square) done by Nancy
Kestner. She has no problem painting ruffles. Or even horns, flounces and
spoons. The paintings are done in botanical illustration style on white
backgrounds with great detail. That said, there is nothing wrong with retro
hybridizing. Maybe we can come up with retro awards and retro ribbons for
shows. Maybe there will be a best retro in show right beside the best
historical. This is after all a hobby and we can do what ever we want. We
can't necessarily get everyone on our band wagon.
