Hi Colleen and Jan,
Well I have had enough rain for the moment and yes it is a pity that I can't
send some to the U.S.A. At the moment my paddocks resemble a lake as a large
creek has overflowed and we, the cows, horses and me are doing a J.C. across
the sodden grass.Any one have a canoe ?, we could launch it just down the
slope near my garden sheds. Now I know why I planted my J.I.s down that
slope, it's terribly wet and they are growing amazingly fast.
All my fancy dafffs are going transparent. Boy are we going to get some
spring growth when it ever dries out.
My irises; No bloms yet, but fat bloom stalks on the following; Dwarfs;
Chanted, Chickory Charm has lots, Smoke Rings has masses and is the size of
a large cow pat,Bamba , Nimble Toes,Little Bev could have been a bit more
generous, only 3-4 there, and possibly a few more on a few, cant tell yet.
However Smoky Imp needs a gun put to its rhizomes as I have had it for 5
years, moved it once and still it grows well but refuses to bloom. Time to
threaten it with the spade...TBs and Medians; Sculptured Wild is only a pup
but it going to do brilliantly this year, Philanderer is making a take over
bid for the most blooms produced by an iris, wish I liked it better,
Silkirim is shaking its stalks out and Im not really fond of that one
either, Temptone had a huge stalk on one section but a calf ate it through
the bottom of the fence, hoever there seems to be another one there, I hope
so, I love blue irises of any sort as well as loud screaming colour
patterns. Not a fan of burgundys, or oranges/yellows but when you are given
presents you can't pick the colour can you? Everything else is choofing
along happily, not minding the wet and are happy now that I have liberated
them from weeds as well. I love my tilers knee padds too, and I thought I
was the only original thinker, glad to see I am not alone..However, as it is
soooo wet, my knees are getting wet and soggy...Hope this little note, haha,
is of some interest, Regards, Wendy Sargeant, wendon@dcsi.net.au Zone 8sih
Aus.P.S. Colleen, did you watch the Sampras/Safin match. Safin; definately
not hard on the eyes.
