Isn't it great when these newly planted rhizomes send up stalks up so
early ! I have NORTHWARD HO in bloom as I speak , with CLARENCE ,
MATRIX , FEEDBACK , AMAIN and WINESAP about to bloom in the next week or
so.
The bad part of this for me is that this unexpected rebloom erases all
possibilities of seeing these cultivars bloom for me next spring in my
climate , zone 5 . The best I can hope for is rebloom next fall which
doesn't help me because I ordered these irises for breeding as well.
I'm going to collect the pollen and freeze it in hopes that it'll still
be viable next spring. All of my pollen freezing experiments failed
this year but weather conditions were hardly ideal , so I'll blame my
failures on the weather ;-)
Good luck
