I've had success in keeping pollen by drying, not freezing. When I collect
pollen I put in small tubes in racks, and st the racks in a large large tub
with milk powder ( or any other dessicant) on the bottom and keep it the
fridge (regardless of how much your spouse complains about lack room for his
beer). After a week or so the pollen is quite dry and the vial can be
capped. I've has success in keeping pollen this way, in the fridge, for over
a year.
