Mark Cook asked:
<< Does anyone know the southern limit for Iris albicans?>>
It flourishes throughout much of the Mediterranean Basin, Mark, so I would
think you could grow it.
That oft-repeated business from Dykes about it being from Yemen is apparently
not sound history since, as Clarence has noted to me privately, it is an
ancient hybrid and there are no candidates for the parents in the so-called
original location.
Anyway, people in Texas who can grow no other beardeds can bloom ablicans.
You need to be prepared, however, for there to be foliage problems.
Apparently it is prone to rattitude and spot. Otherwise the only hard part is
making sure you actually get albicans and not I. germanica var. florentina,
which has so been known to happen.
