Doreen,
Last year Van Engelen offered Allium Giganteum at 5 for $9.75 ($50 minimum
total order). This year's catalog says A. Gigateum is unavailable for
unspecified horticultural reasons. They do offer two large-flowered Allium
hybrids, "Gladiator" with 6-inch diameter globular flower heads on 36-48
inch stalks (5 for $10.75) and "Globemaster" with 10-inch globular flower
heads on 24 to 36 inch stalks (3 for 14.00). John Scheepers, which as Bill
Shear mentioned is another trade name used by the same firm, offers
"Gladiator" at 5 for $12.75 and "Globemaster" at 3 for $14.50 with a $35
minimum total order. I have found the quality of bulb stock from both these
sources to be excellent, though I try to order through Van Engelen to take
advantage of the lower prices (which means oredering things like tulips and
narcissi in quantities of 50 or 100).
