The iris borer has never been reported from Britain, and I am not sure that
Japanese beetles are found there either. You well may be right that more
than one insect is involved. The black spotted rose leaves are probably
from a fungus and not related to the insect larvae. Anyway, what is
"Gardener" doing planting Marigolds in Britain in September?
