According to a recent workshop by David Hensley,
Professor and Head of the Horticultural Dept. at
the U. of Arkansas, Fayetteville.  Gypsum only
works on a high sodium soil to relieve compaction.
If the soil is not high in sodium gypsum is a
waste of money.

Professor Hensley recommends regular addition of
organic matter as the only sure cure for most
compacted soils.
