Yeah, that sounds like torture, alright!   When I visited Clark Gardens this
year during iris bloom, nothing they had caught my eye as much as this one.
I think it may be the most brilliant shade of yellow-gold I've seen on an
iris as it grew there.  It was doing well.  Since they aren't far in terms
of miles and weather patterns, I thought it might do well here.  I have it
now (courtesy of a fellow lister) and it is growing in a very large pot at
the moment.  I'm sure it will be tortured enough next summer without my
adding anything further to the test.
