Hi
The irises are finally starting to bloom. A couple of PCNs and Dwarfs are out. Terra Verde wasn't the first dwarf to flower this year, Making Eyes and Raspberry Jam were fist.
Some TBs are fully headed up and getting hit by frost. Olmparico is more than a month late, it usually blooms early August and often again with the main bloom in October. Bridal Fashion isn't sure whether it is in late rebloom or early bloom. The TBs that are headed are mostly rebloomers, confused I think.
The last couple of months have been very dry, got less than half our winter rainfall. Only 30mm in August, one of our wettest months. The frosts have been late, our heaviest frosts have been over the last 6 weeks, so the garden is fairly late.
We have our first show in 2 weeks as well as the gardens opening, but there won't be much to see. Unfortunately the weeds are growing wel, and as usual the gardens aren't fully prepared. My husband Les has just had an ear operation and isn't allowed to lift anything heavy for another 4 weeks, so that's not helpful, but fortunately his ear problem should now be fully resolved. Les works on the property full time, but I only get the weekends.
However today looks like it's going to be a beautiful day, look out weeds, here I come!!! (first I think I'll some breakfast)
