I killed a few seedlings before my friend told me that they would not like
being watered in the evenings with the hot western sun on them. I had over
1000 pots of various plants, mostly irises, here last summer, so not a lot
of individual attention for any of them. I discovered 5 pots of PCX's (love
the name) that were suffering badly, so I collected them and found them a
shady spot with morning sun only. They continued to wither abnd die, so I
though 'what the heck' and doused them generaously with water for a few
days. I saved 4 of the 5. The very soon put up lush new shoots.
In the ground, they are doing very well with their generous mulch of pine
needles and pine peat. I don't think I will have the same problems as I had
last year. The black poly pots are a problem with over heating.
I took my first photo (first PCX bloom) last week, and it looks very similar
to Colleens on the photo's list this week (I will post it when developed,
for comparison). Lots of fat buds so more photos soon.
Cheers, Jan
