I haven't suffered much from rot, but enjoyed Bill Burleson's articulation of 
the factors which may be involved and their inter relationships. I indeed 
agree that AIS might wisely dedicate $50,000 to rot research on a 1:2 
matching basis which the land grant colleges may be interested in providing 
in those states which grow iris commercially. Another 50,000 might stimulate 
colleges in other climate conditions to follow the research protocol without 
having to redesign it. Realistically, however, it might take several years to 
get replicable results.

Others of you have not expressed much confidence in the land grant colleges.
