Maybe Silverado is one of those iris that won't just grow in any old place,
even in the same yard.  I had for several years and never saw much in the way
of bloom or increase, then finally moved it.  There, too, it waited a couple
years, then really took off, and for the past 2 seasons it has been one of the
best.  I wish I knew the secret, but the only thing I can think of is that it
just needed a while to get established in a favorable location.   If one
doesn't want to mess around trying to find such a spot, well, there are so
many other great iris that one can't find room for all of them anyway.
Clearly, though, Silverado likes it here on the plains of NW Iowa, where it
lives with extremes of temperature in both summer and winter.
