Any comments on health of WORLD PREMIER, OVERNIGHT SENSATION, or NEHALEM
BAY?
In general, modern neglectas & amoenas I've tried have been sorry
excuses for irises here.
Someone in our local club brought a nice stalk of WORLD PREMIER to our
spring show, which even had nice looking pollen on it. Tom Parkhill,
who is in a much better location, soil, & takes better care of his
irises, and I were admiring it, but Tom said he had tried to grow it
previously with no success. I have YAQUINA BLUE, the pod parent of
WORLD PREMIER, and it is VERY healthy, and even set pods this spring,
but doesn't increase. In fact, it tried to bloom out this year.
I'd love to find a nice. superhealthy, modern neglecta or amoena that
reliably produces a lot of pollen here. All three of these are listed
as ML or L, so they might manage to avoid late spring freezes. & I'd be
willing to gamble on NEHELEM BAY, assuming it has some improvements in
substance, branching or something over the other two, if there were some
hope of it producing a lot of pollen.
Thanks in advance if anybody can help me with this. Since it's a 2002
introduction, even if all the R&I's were online, it's too recent to see
if it has produced any kids.
Anybody know if there is somebody at Schreiners who could & would be
willing to answer this kind of question?
