Re: AIS: predicting award winners

Like many of you when I first saw a picture of STARSHIP ENTERPRISE  I was
impressed with the flower. It was unique and in my opinion very pretty. I fist
saw a bloom stalk at Schreiners several years ago, and even though a staff
person there told me it was slow to increase I finally purchased it two years
ago. I had a single poor bloom stalk with two inferior blooms and latter that
summer the plant expired. I also had other previosly robust iris plants die in
the same bed, which I contribute to my mistake of incorporating too much
composted ice storm debris in the soil mix. So I cannot say for certain S E is
a poor grower, however I probally will not attempt to grow it again.
