Crickets are everywhere this year...especially in the newly
planted beds. I haven't seen any damage that they have
done..probably because I don't know what to look for. They seem
to be more prevalent in one section of the property.

Mike Greenfield mentioned the squirrels overturning and nibbling
on certain rhizomes. I have seem them overturning newly planted
rhizomes but no nibbling. They kept digging out THORNBIRD last
year.... maybe they didn't like it either. It bloomed fine this
year. Maybe I will cut a break and they will eat it for me since
I have a problem getting rid of irises if they bloom.

We have trapped squirrels and have transported them to the
woods...far from here. I have two dogs that are useless at
barking at anything except people so that deterrent is missing.
The one time my two cats saw a mouse, they ran away from it.

We had a bear in the back yard this year while I was working in
the garden with my 'guard' Cairn terrier. He never made a
whimper as he watched the bear run toward us. Not even when I
screamed.
