Hello Linda,
> The problem is wavy stalks. The blooms are fine, the plants appear
healthy and vigorous. I just wondered what causes this (one of the stalks
curves so much it's almost touching the ground.)
My own observation is that this occurs during periods of rapid growth,
especially combined with swings in temperature. If you have had some good
rains, warm days and cool nights, then it would follow the pattern I see
here. Early blooming irises of any kind tend to exhibit it under my growing
conditions. It is less apparent on plants with shorter stalks than on
taller ones, but it happens to them as well. There is just naturally less
stalk to snake. Sometimes, if they don't fall over too far, I find it
attractive. Instead of standing like soldiers at attention, they sort
lounge about gracefully like a relaxed pretty lady.
