The crickets bore holes straight into the rhizomes. The are perfectly smooth
holes close to 1/2 inch deep with a rounded bottom. Even when they don't
have enough space to establish the entire 'hole', you can still detect the size
and shape. Nothing random looking about the hole. A large infestation can
totally destroy a rhizome with multiple holes. I didn't notice cricket damage
until I moved here . . . . I'm hoping they don't follow me to the new place!
