If you bury your rhizomes, you may not get damage.  I plant with the top of 
the rhizome exposed. You would not have to dig them up here to see the damage.  
There is cricket bait or poison you can buy to sprinkle on the ground.  It 
helps.  Tried everything suggested two years ago and nothing worked until I 
bought the bait.  They weren't so bad last year, but starting early this year.  

I ran some out of the storage bags today.  Guess they found easy pickings.
