Re: CULT: how long before planting?

The sooner you can get them planted, the sooner they will start growing
new roots & the better bloom next year is likely to be. Assuming your
soil is pretty sandy in Myrtle Beach, you could probably safely plant
even tho it is wet?

I sometimes 'mud' plants into my gravelly soil while it is raining.
Cooler that way, I don't have to haul buckets of water or drag around
the garden hose, and they get to settle in when it's not hot windy and
dry.

<I received a shipment of new irises Monday, and I am wondering how long

before I should plant. I ask because we are having so
much rain it is hard to
describe. My yard is soaked, and predictions are for
rain every day for the next
week. I assume these irises were dug about a week
ago, so am I safe waiting
longer, or should I get them into the wet ground now?

                   thanks,
                   Mike In Myrtle Beach>
