Re: RE:REBLOOM

So, if I understand correctly, then Ruby Eruption could be said to be a rebloomer in Zone 3, since it bloomed
about 6 weeks after the others ( and yes...it was wet ).

A couple of comments

Ruby Eruption is a rebloomer here in home teritory. It reblooms in July, about 4-6 weeks after spring bloom, but only if its planted in a wet area of garden. Same clump with bifg seed pods and bloom on same clump. Almost never reblooms in fall.

If a plant blooms in fall and has been in garden for one year, consider it a rebloomer. The definition if the clump bloomed in spring as well etc. is a mute point as given enough time this plant will bloom spring and fall on the same clump. The plants that bloom in fall are always classified by someone somewhere as a rebloomer. An occasional rare stock on plant not classified as a rebllomer can't be considered rebloom.

A new classified plant for me is Late For School, an SDB by Heidi Blyth. Allthough not classified as a rebloomer it has put op rebloom stocks for the past three years here. This no longer is a rare occurance (as I had classified it earlier) even though not reported by others. I have a row of Immortality with about half the plants putting up rebloom stocks. None of this row put up stocks in spring but I also have some older clumps with flower stocks now and also had them in spring. Like wise a row of War Chief beside Immortality, planted at same time has no bloomstalks and won't have any fall flower stalks no matter what I do to it.

Food for thought.
