Re: HYB: REF: Helen Collingwood/Pink formal descendants

Mike Lowe must be lurking or somebody forwarded my "talking to the
stove" (old Grimm Brothers' Fairy tale) to him - he sent me everything
descended from HELEN COLLINGWOOD and from PINK FORMAL.

HC only shows up in pedigrees of 16 registered iris of all eras. 5 have
HC as direct parent, rest are from seedlings of HC. Mike wondered why so
few, & so do I. Assuming that what I'm growing is HC (no reason to
think otherwise at the moment), it is easily pod fertile, so that
doesn't seem to be it. Maybe it wasn't widely appreciated when it was
newer? Or maybe it wasn't fertile with the things folks were trying to
cross it with? Here's the list, sorted by date of registration:

 BRAITHWAITE Randall 1952
 ELIZABETH NOBLE K.Smith 1953
 RICHMONDTOWN K.Smith 1955
 HALLOWEEN Varner 1957
 HONEY TONE Goett 1959
 HILARY C&KSmith 1960
 PARADOX C&KSmith 1960
 BLONDIE'S PRIDE Hite 1961
 LONDON CRY Kelway 1963
 TRUDY C.Tompkins 1964
 KIMMIE LYNNE Friedline 1965
 POST SCRIPT Tompkins 1965
 BOBBIE LODER Riggs 1969
 BREAD AND WINE C.Smith 1970
 VICTORIAN ERA C.Smith 1971
 DZVINKA OlegAmekhin 1996

I haven't looked any of these up yet in the online database to see how
many show up in more recent pedigrees - trying to get some gardening
done...

The list of descendants from PINK FORMAL is several hundred. If anybody
is interested, let me know.
