I copy DVDs all the time (for backup of course which is legal)
Studio movie DVDs are a different issue because they use a recording technology that is not available to home computers (as of yet) The amount of data is much greater than can be stored on a regular DVD
Create a copy protection scheme and someone will figure out a way to break it.

HI,
I am sure a set of DVD's could be coded so they could not be copied, such as
software is now coded. Please reconsider the DVD angle. I would buy both.

This discussion has been a general one about many different publicationsfrom the R & I to the Iris encyclopedia. The Iris encyclopedia has been
suggested as a five volume format. The reason why the first volume can not
be printed until they are are finished and available for printing is that
there is extensive cross referencing for synonyms that may appear in one
volume but are refered to in another. Therefore it is impossible to print
volume one without having volumes al the way to five complete. Nonetheless
It seems likely that when the work is finally completed, it may be printed
and released a volume at a time, so as to sort of pay as you go printing
costs and keep the cost burdon low at any point in time for those that would
like to subscribe to the set. Because of its very nature it will be printed
in a set quantity that will undoubtedly become collectors items. It is
unlikely that such a huge project will be attempted again for many years.
Since it contains mainy i!tems thatwil be available as a CD or DVD since it would take several DVDs to hold all
have been allowed for a limited copyright exposure it is unlikely that it
the Data.
