Thanks Griff. Do you have a photo of TRUDY you can post?
Once again, fools rush in .... makes me wish I'd paid better attention
to those bee pods. I was expecting junk from the seeds, so didn't write
down how many seeds there were (seems like there were a lot), nor how
many came up, nor how long it took!
And now I don't remember whether it was just one pod or two. They were
not burrito'd, planted all in one 8 inch pot outdoors, no mulch, no
extra water. As I recall (i.e., don't trust my memory!), the pot was
full of babies. I left them there for a full year to weed out the
weakest ones, lined out the biggest 4 survivors last year and one more
this year.
HC is an extremely reliable bloomer here, but isn't among the very best
for health. Way above average, just not the very best.
<Neil -- How right you are. Just for example, take 02B3, the HELEN
COLLINGWOOD descendant whose photo I posted just
now. There were 42 seeds
in the pod, which I planted in October, 2001. None
germinated. I held the
container over for another year, and 3 seeds
germinated in 2002. Two of the
sprouts survived, of which 02B3 is one. -- Griff>
