RE: TB:PHOTO: (was Trudy)

Barb, I am glad to hear someone else tags the photos "borrowed" with the
source's name. I began doing this also about two and a half years ago. I
have a fairly large set of files of irises I like or think exceptional,
another of ones I have acquired, still a couple others of seedlings, some from
scanned prints, some from digital camera origin once I had one. These files
are wonderful resources during iris-hungry winter months or cross-planning
times.

Patrick Orr has published a number of exceptionally well photographed irises.
So when I latch on to one of his it carries the label, for example, as
"FogboundOrr.jpg", His FOGBOUND photo is the best I have of that variety and
I asked him if he was agreeable to the "borrow." He was.

Mid-America often has exceptional photos too, and Denise Stewart's on her
Snowpeak website catalog has a number that are truer to life and color than
some others. So I have a ROMANTIC EVENING photo on file labelled
"RomEvSno.jpg" that is photographed from above and shows the colors, form and
character of the variety the best of any photos I have seen.

It only takes a moment to add the originator's tag to a file name. It is a
good, morally responsible and a useful practice. There may come a day one
might wish to make use of the photo but could not do so if the owner couldn't
be contacted to obtain permission.
