<Linda and Laurie -- Your photos of LATIN LOVER match what LL looked
like in
my garden when I grew it. The longish falls
(relative to their width) are
the principal reason that I didn't use it much in
hybridizing. I found the
shape of RINGO's falls and their more pronounced band
more to my liking.>
RINGO is also a more robust plant here than LL, plus more cooperative
about producing pollen.
These two (LL is in pedigree of RINGO) have both umbrata (WINE AND
ROSES/SHAH JEHAN) and I(s) (WHOLE CLOTH) ancestry.
Another historical question for you Neil - Shoop's pedigrees for these
two mention pink amoena and red-bearded amoena lines. Do you know if
everybody in that era was starting more or less from the same foundation
lines of pink amoenas and red bearded amoenas?
