pink amoenas and red-bearded amoenas

The only pedigrees of known-ancestry (or, I should say, published ancestry)
for pink amoenas and red-bearded amoenas are like Shoop's or those of Opal
Brown and Barry Blyth.

Opal used PINNACLE x pinks, for several generations, then crossed the results
with Cook dominant amoena-derived things such as her GYPSY LULLABY which is
from FASHIONETTE x MELODRAMA. Some of her resulting breeding (PIPES OF PAN)
is involved in Barry Blyth's crosses for a while.

Since the yellow amoena lines all trace back to PINNACLE, one can both praise
Jean Stevens work for the advent of the yellow amoenas and blame her for the
carry-along problems in its descendants, I suppose. The tight linkages of
short height and narrow falls is stubbornly linked to depth of color in the
pink amoenas, as in SUNSET SNOWS. There's a thorough discussion of this by
Blyth himself a couple years back in *Tall Talk.*

In the Shoop lines, LAST LAUGH seems to have overcome all the problems in that
line. It is not only beautifully formed, it also seems to throw very, very
good seedlings.

Cayeax's red-bearded amoenas seem genetically similar to Shoop's from their
appearance.
