Re: OT:humor

I usually choose by color and form, and don't pay much attention to cultivation needs. The ones that grow well, stay - and the others die out and are replaced with new things.
Being on this list made me more aware of things like soil amendments. When I put in
a couple of new beds this year, I added lots of peat and sand to my heavy clay soil. The new iris are doing well - fresh growth in the existing fans, and increase on many
of the rhizomes. Now if I can just get the borers under control . . .

Hi all,
I had to write with a little humor (I hope)
I read all about you wonderful hybridizers and your researches on genetics;
who to cross with whom, the best branching, bud counts,etc. etc..
So, I have to tell you how I choose iris for my garden: I like the name, so I
buy it... ( I also bet on horses because of their color or the color their
jockeys are wearing, along with their names.) Because of this Ill-logic, I
don't win much, but I have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs in the
garden..........I hope someone else appreciates my humor.
Thanks,
