It has rained constantly, so I have not watered.
My soil is half to two thirds gravel, so drainage is not a problem.
Pots are easy, raised beds are a lot of work and I'm not up to it. In
the past, no amount of goodies or care has had any effect on borderline
growers in the ground. Good performers here respond to extra attention,
but not the disease susceptible ones. I'm hopeful that the near sterile
medium will take care of that problem. It will certainly be easier to
modify their climate if I want to (put a roof over them to keep off
rain, protect from sudden late freezes, insect outbreaks, leaf spots
etc)
<Linda, how often do you have to water the iris in the pots? Can you
build a raised bed with amended soil instead of the pots? Connie
