I assume plants in convention gardens are
carefully groomed, removing all diseased foliage.
Hard to know how much bases of plants would help,
but it would be interesting to see!  And be sure
to include a reference cultivar from each garden
for comparison. Or are all gardens equal in iris
heaven?

Probably Oklahoma will give more useful data.
They may not have the same "overwatering" issues
that we do farther east, but are (believe it or
not) <more> likely to have serious late
winter/early spring freeze damage than I do.

I've been <told> I <have> to go to convention next
year.  It's after my bloom season, so at least
there won't be a conflict.  And the idea of going
back in time (and weather) to experience peak
bloom season a second time is <very> appealing.

But just thinking about making that long trip
makes me tired!  Have to line up a house sitter.
Plus I will need to make sure I will be guaranteed
a steady supply of diet Coke (not Pepsi!),
chicken, and rice, plus a place to lie down when I
run out of steam!

<    I have been taking many pictures at the
                   conventions.  This years CD
will have over 1000
                   pictures but only a few clumps.
I will make sure
                   that I get a good many pictures
of clumps in
                   Portland.  Will you be there?
