Maybe you can work on plague resistant cultivars next?
I am still bemused by the image of my long-departed pet duck riding
around on the back of a June bug. She would have <loved> to help you
with your current cricket plague. She certainly had fun when the June
bugs were out.
Are you in a rural area where you could have a few chickens?
<Crickets are particularly bad this year. They have killed several
2d-year
seedlings by burrowing into the ground at the base of
the fan and eating the
rhizome underground. ... It seems that, whatever the
weather conditions in our area, there is a plague to
