Hollywood Nights has lace but not here and I have never had a successful cross with it.
Now that is an interesting observation. I know about variations in color depending on environment, but never heard about lace being in the same category.

Anybody else ever notice that? I am not debating Mike's observation, but just haven't heard of it before.

I had a nice iris from that same cross a while back. Tall big, heavily
ruffled purple (same color as Titan's Glory, much better form. I lost it to
crown rot when I had 3 rhizomes. I tried the bleach treatment, and the roots
all died. Now I use mortar mix on the wound afterscraping.

Try the Ghio red-burgundy iris; he has a few recent ones all starting with "R"
that are fairly dark, and very lacy.

Seedling is from Mulled Wine X Honky Tonk Blues. First time it bloomed it
had
just a little, later blooms has a lot of lace. A burgundy wine with a blue
flush. Buds start out all most black.
