I feel irresistibly compelled to opine that I cannot abide a rubbery iris.

I can enjoy a tissuey one, assuming it is an historic, because there are
typically tradeoffs like translucence, iridescence, even opalescence, and
textural contrast with the velvet of the haftmarks and the beard, not to mention
many are so touchingly flower-like in their brilliant ephemeralness.

I don't mind the heavy textured ones, older or newer, which look like rich
dull satin, or feel like fine kid gloves, indeed some of those are very
elegant and beautiful.

But I don't care for an iris that feels like a clammy rubber sheet.
