I have little in-depth knowledge of RB's, would suspect the following to all
have some level of influence:
  a.. Cooler Evenings
  b.. Moisture
  c.. Length of Day
  d.. Adequate Nutrition
  e.. Overall Condition of Plant (not stressed by poor culture)
Thoughts?

I noticed a stalk rising in Summer Olympics in my garden just yesterday.  I
kind of hate to see it bloom since my whole garden was newly planted this year
so I won't have a stalk on this plant in the Spring...  however, since it's
started, hope it gets to maturity before our first frost!  *grinz*
