Re: Re: SDB: Lavender Spot

Thanks Linda, i wanted to do exactly the same research, but I'm so busy
editing the pictures to put with the lists of seeds available that i postponed
it.

It would be interesting to know where Susan Boyce bought her iris from.
Lavender Spot might just be a fantasy name, and if she could send us a
picture, we might discover it's an old SDB with a pumila spot whose real name
is completely different.

I have the same problem with 3 Ensatas I've used in my crosses, they came with
a name, but they were 'fancy names'.
I will put their pictures on iris-photo, it will be more accurate than their
fake names.

Here are all the SDBs with Lavender in the name:

  CHERRY LAVENDER (L. Delany, R. 1972) SDB, 11" (28 cm), EML
  DEEP LAVENDER (Welch, R. 1962) Sdlg. T-434. SDB, 14" (36 cm), L
  LAVENDER DROPS (D. Spence, R. 1987) Sdlg. S83-45-2. SDB, 8.75" (22 cm), E
  LAVENDER GATE (E. Smith, R. 1973) Sdlg. 73-202. SDB, 14" (36 cm), L
  LAVENDER LASS (A. Brown, R. 1966) Sdlg. M 288. SDB, 11" (28 cm), E
  LAVENDER MARVEL (H. Hite, R. 1981) Sdlg. Q-7-5. SDB, 10" (25 cm), EM
  LAVENDER PUFF (Paul Black, R. 1986) Sdlg. 83131A. SDB, 9" (23 cm), M
  LILAC AND LAVENDER (W. Greenlee by D. S. Varner, R. 1980) Sdlg. G1. SDB,
  8" (20 cm), ML

And all the ones with Spot in the name:
  BLOODSPOT (Tim Craig, R. 1966) Sdlg. 240 CRS 3. SDB, 10+" (25 cm), EE
  BROWN SPOT (F. Dyer, R. 1973) Sdlg. D-31-71D. SDB, 10" (15 cm), M
  FLAME SPOT (A. Brown, R. 1963) Sdlg. M-272-3. SDB, 12" (30 cm), E
  FOUR SPOT (Earl Roberts, R. 1962) Sdlg. 61R26. SDB, 12" (30 cm), E
  FUSSPOT (Barry Blyth, R. 2000) Sdlg. G1-5. SDB, 10" (25 cm), EM
  LEMON SPOT (A. & D. Willott, R. 1965) Sdlg. 63-D-1. SDB, 8-10" (2057 cm), E
  LITTLE SUNSPOT (F. Dyer, R. 1980) Sdlg. D-21 5-73-D. SDB, 12" (30 cm), M
OLIVE SPOT (Donald Spoon, R. 2006) Sdlg. 98-45A. SDB, 12" (30 cm), EML & RE
  PECAN SPOT (Paul Black, R. 1981) Sdlg. B-80-34. SDB, 9" (23 cm), M
  PLUM SPOT (C. Boswell, R. 1976) Sdlg. 144-69-10. SDB, 11" (28 cm), M
  RED SPOT (Adelaide Peterson, R. 1959) Sdlg. 58-9-C. SDB, 11" (28 cm),

Supposedly, names are not supposed to be color descriptions. But I see
there are a lot of SDBs with 'spot' names that are registered, so maybe
LAVENDER SPOT hasn't been registered yet or will be a 2009 intro?
