As bloom is a complex relationship of genetics and environment there can be an odd situation where a plant will bloom twice in a season. The question is then how many examples of twice bloom in a season do we need to classify an iris as a rebloomer. Is a one time report enough to classify it as a rebloomer? As versus a one off misfire of bloom codes in response to an unusual growing season?

Thanks Robin. I'll have to trust it's to label since I am not not
familiar with the full field of MTBs. Will post a pic to the photos
listserve in a few days. It has been a good year for me rebloom wise so
we'll see how it does next year.

So we can avoid any false double reports, FYI I am a RIS member so I'll
be reporting it to Region 4 when they ask for submittals. It will be
under Shaub Dunkley, Candler NC. (Z6b)

Another surpriser on the way! Western Hills (per source) (1 yo clump)
has three stalks budding out. RIS '12 shows only VA z6 reporting it so
far. I really expected it to be very sporadic and to perhaps never see
it rebloom for me.

BTW folks, I'm into the historic remontants and carriers. I'm looking to
network with people to help get the endangered ones back on their feet.
You too? Chat me up. I'm a HIPS member as well.

We will add Among Friends to the RIS data base. There are many
cultivars which are not registered as rebloomers. They may never rebloom in the hybridizer's garden, but move it around and you never know.

Thanks for reporting it!

Yes; it has bloomed two springs and now this fall. I have an email in
to
Wildwood Gardens where I bought it. There are stalks on different fans
so it not a sporadic sort of rebloom. I will say the height of the
spring stalks are not nearly the 18" of the Eregistry description but
short stalks are normal for me.

Did the same clump bloom in the spring?

What I bought under label Among Friends is reblooming right now. The
flower looks like AF to me, I am just surprised to see rebloom since
I
haven't a reference to it doing so, including the 2012 RIS Checklist.
