Good question, Chuck. & not one I'd try to answer, either for genetics or for garden information.
For my highly variable climates, in order to say for sure that an iris is a reliable rebloomer here, I would want to grow it for 3 or 4 yrs after first bloomstalk, without dividing. I wouldn't know what to call it if it rebloomed <one> of those years. If I grew it 10 yrs and it rebloomed twice, I still wouldn't know.
One of the values of the rebloom checklist is that even tho you can't tell how often it reblooms in one place, if it's reported for a lot of states/countries USDA zones, they it's probably safe to call it a real rebloomer.
So a single time reblooming for Shaub, with no obvious rebloom genetics, may not mean much, but if half a dozen people report rebloom, even if it's sporadic, maybe it becomes useful information.

Thanks Robin. I'll have to trust it's to label since I am not not
familiar with the full field of MTBs. Will post a pic to the photos
listserve in a few days. It has been a good year for me rebloom wise so
we'll see how it does next year.

So we can avoid any false double reports, FYI I am a RIS member so I'll
be reporting it to Region 4 when they ask for submittals. It will be
under Shaub Dunkley, Candler NC. (Z6b)

Another surpriser on the way! Western Hills (per source) (1 yo clump)
has three stalks budding out. RIS '12 shows only VA z6 reporting it so
far. I really expected it to be very sporadic and to perhaps never see
it rebloom for me.

BTW folks, I'm into the historic remontants and carriers. I'm looking to
network with people to help get the endangered ones back on their feet.
