Charlie again. In using the tetracycline, I do not use it in a large
area. I could have just as well used a soil sterilizer but the
tetracycline does not affect all the bacteria. UT Texas Ag dept
suggest the use for specific bact. Soft Rot is one of them. I
stated that I used it on a single bed of 2 sections that had the rot
spread right alone 3 rows of plants. I cleared the beds, got rid of
the infected plants, salvaged what I could, soaked the plants in
purex and then Tetracycline water, and they are still drying 5 weeks
later. I will replant them this next couple of weeksThe tetracycline
powder in non prescription, agri use only and is available through
most Farm and Ranch or Feed stores. In large cities, some of the
larger nurseries may have it or they can order it. They also carry
Agri-streptimycin which is specific for other types of bacteria.
