Re: Short foliage in Fall


I. variegata has the characteristic of putting up short foliage in the fall.
I think of this as representing hardiness for our  area, (southern  part  of
region 4). It was even more important when I was growing iris in Canada. I.
variegata does not like the Mediterranean climate of coastal California, and
its genes are probably not considered as desirable there. So, John, I like to
see the seedlings putting up short foliage in the fall, here.  Lloyd
