Entirely 'do-able'and indeed Thorbecke is still as close behind modern iris
as is possible to find! Desert Shield (Varner, T. 91) has Thorbecke as its
pollen grandparent.

Thorbecke is the great grandparent of the all time, superb yellow French
Dykes Medalist, Alice Harding (Cayeux 33). Thorbecke is the pollen parent
of Tristram (Bliss 19) and Marsh Marigold (Bliss 19). I do not find it used
as a pod parent, however my ancestor database does not totally cover all
iris.
