By silly do you mean impractical or useless?
I don't know about other gardeners, but I love to receive functional items
such as tools, actual plants or seeds, or good garden reference books or
gardening magazine subscriptions.
Of course, an annual, triennial, or lifetime AIS membership and a generous
gift certificate with a reputable iris grower are always in good taste. :)
