I think Los Angeles qualifies as dry in the summer. I guess we've gone
at least 4 or 5 months without rain. When I had Ditto I probably watered
it once or twice a week during the summer, since its roots don't go very
deep, but it did quite well.
BTW, you should consider spurias, arilbreds, and arils. All could do
well
in your climate.
