Zones

I certainly don't object to the inclusion of zones by those of you who think
they are meaningful, but I do urge everyone to remember that these are very
BROAD categories. Going by just the zone # without considering other factors
can be quite misleading.

For example, I am in Zone 6, 7 or 8, depending on which map you consult.
Borers are not a problem here. Rot is extremely rare. Some medians survive,
but rarely bloom Some TBs survive, but 5% bloom is fairly typical and 25% is
really great year. OTOH, arilbreds thrive.

Now, should those of you in these same zones on the East Coast expect to have
similar experiences? Should I expect bountiful rebloom because Lloyd Zurbrigg
produces such wondrous varieties in Zone 7/8? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!! That's why I
prefer to sign off with geographic location.
